GENERAL
When will you start painting my pet portrait?
I will start the portrait once the size, composition and background have all been confirmed and the deposit paid. As part of the final quote I will advise you a start and finish date.
Can my pet portrait have a background?
My portraits have a plain toning coloured background to them. I can include a more detailed background, although this will increase the price. Please contact me talk about what sort of background you are thinking of.
How long will it take to paint my pet portrait?
It takes many hours to complete a pet portrait and this depends on the size and complexity of the portrait.
I usually allow 2-3 weeks for completion of a pet portrait.
Can I order more than one pet portrait?
Clients have commissioned me to do more than one pet portrait after the completion of the first one. Timing varies considerably as it can be months or a year/s later.
Can you paint a pet portrait with more than one pet?
More than one subject in the painting is workable and a group photo/s of the subjects is ideal. Using separate photos can be bit tricky trying to arrange a good composition but I have done this previously.
For a group portrait I would recommend a size larger than A4 size (29.7 x 21 cms).
REFERENCE PHOTOS
What makes a good reference photo for a pet portrait?
The photo is best taken in good light but not too sunny with the eyes clearly visible. Preferably it should
be a high resolution photo to show details and it needs to be in focus with the subject in the pose that you would like in the portrait.
Can you use a reference photo with part of the pet missing?
I can usually add in small missing parts and having several photos of the pet will help to achieve this.
Can you add a collar or name tag to the pet portrait?
Often it is possible to add a collar or name tag if I have other photos to work from. Adding a name to
a tag is usually doable but adding a collar is more complex because of the way it lies with the fur, this
really depends on the reference photos.
Can you paint a pet portrait from an old photo?
I'm happy to look at the photo to see if I can use it for a portrait.
SHIPPING
Please note that I don't ship soft pastel artwork, mainly because of costs involved and the danger of glass breakage if framed or the work getting smudged if unframed. I ask my clients to pick up their pet portrait from my studio in Forest Lake, Brisbane or sometimes I hand deliver the portrait. If you wish to have a framed pet portrait shipped I will contact Pack & Send for a quote.
REFUNDS
Due to the highly customised nature of your portrait, I do not offer refunds.
Each portrait has been carefully painted specifically for you and has no value to me should you change your mind. By sending you photos during the painting process for you to review this ensures that you are happy with the final portrait.
